After the EYT regulation came into effect in December, even if 1.5 million EYT members retire with a monthly salary of 3,500 lira, an annual 146 billion lira is required.
Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, said that if the age requirement is abolished, 1.5 million people will be entitled to retirement in the first place as of August, and this number will increase even more by the end of the year.
According to the news of Sözcü, if 1.5 million EYT members are paid 3 thousand 500 liras, which is the lowest pension, there should be 5 billion 250 million liras per month and 63 billion liras per year. In addition, even assuming that 1.5 million EYT members still receive a salary over the minimum wage, SGK will lose 40.1 billion liras of employee and employer premium income annually when they retire.

Durmuş Yılmaz’s proposal was rejected
The Unemployment Insurance Fund will also receive an annual premium income of around 3.5 billion TL upon retirement. A total of 3.3 billion liras will be paid to 1.5 million EYT members as two holiday bonuses when they retire. Thus, the total resource need and income loss for 1.5 million EYT members, including pension, premium losses and holiday bonus, will reach 146 billion 652 million liras per year. If approximately 5 million EYT members retire, the lowest invoice will be based on 489 billion liras per year.
IYI Party Deputy Durmus Yilmaz, who made a proposal during the meetings of the Ministry of Labor’s budget at the Parliamentary Plan and Budget Commission, asked for an additional appropriation of 120 billion liras to be added to the ministry’s budget in order to pay the salaries of 1.5 million EYT members who will retire in the first place. However, the proposal was rejected by the votes of the government. Yılmaz said, “When the EYT offer comes in December, will they gather us again and put an allowance here?”
