Making statements about the minimum wage negotiations that will start in December, TİSK Chairman of the Board of Directors Akkol said that they wanted to complete the process with a triple signature and gave a ‘balance’ message. Akkol said, “We do not want a situation where employers are crushed under heavy costs. “We will strive for a balanced minimum wage,” he said.
Özgür Burak Akkol, Chairman of the Turkish Confederation of Employers’ Unions (TİSK) and Turkish Metal Industrialists’ Union (MESS), regarding the minimum wage figure that will be valid in the new year, said, “We will again take responsibility. Again, we want to conclude this process with a triple signature. We do not want a situation where our workers and our labor unions are not satisfied. However, we do not want a situation where employers are crushed under heavy costs.”
Akkol made a statement at the “Stars of Occupational Safety Award Ceremony” organized by MESS for the seventh time this year in Divan Kuruçeşme.
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION WORKS IN OHS
Saying that Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is one of their main areas of focus, Akkol emphasized the importance of digital transformation in OHS in order to protect employees more and make businesses safer.
Akkol stated that they are carrying out projects for businesses by using artificial intelligence applications in this regard, and said:
To give an example of our applications, for example, when an employee wants to enter a place without a helmet, artificial intelligence detects this and makes the necessary warnings. There is a place where a mask should be worn, but the employee did not wear a mask or this clothing was not worn in the place where OHS clothing should be worn, these are prevented with the help of technology and possible accidents are prevented. Those who work there know best the risks of an enterprise in terms of occupational health and safety. From this point of view, employees who work with a mobile phone application can report the risks in their work area to their managers with photos or videos.”
Akkol stated that thanks to the award program they have organized to raise awareness on OHS, over 1200 projects and 160 thousand employees have been reached so far.
“WE WILL STRIVE FOR A BALANCED MINIMUM WAGE”

Referring to the minimum wage negotiations that will start in December, Akkol said:
“In the last three minimum wage increases, we, as workers, employers and the government, have signed the resolution three times. This means that both the employer, the employee and the government are satisfied. We will again put our hands under the stone. Again, we want to conclude this process with a triple signature. We do not want a situation in which our workers, labor unions and labor confederations are not satisfied and there is unrest in our businesses. However, we do not want a situation where employers are crushed under heavy costs. We will try to work with both our workers’ confederations and our state on a balanced minimum wage.”
